Organic Root LED Lampshade 🫚💡
Inspired by Nature, designed with Grasshopper
This unique lampshade was designed using Grasshopper, a visual programming language for Rhino, which allows for the creation of complex parametric forms. With the Dendro plugin, I sculpted an organic structure resembling roots that spiral upwards, enveloping the LED flame tea light candle 🕯️. The design is inspired by the natural growth patterns of roots, creating a harmonious blend of technology & nature.
🛠️ Printing Journey: Precision and Patience
Achieving the desired result took a lot of trial and error 🤯. I printed and reprinted this design countless times, refining the settings & tweaking the details with each attempt. 🖨️ While the final result isn’t perfect, I did my best to fine-tune the slicing for a detailed and functional print. Each iteration brought me closer to the ideal outcome, though some areas still required careful attention.
🖥️ Printing Recommendations:
- For AMS Users: Utilize a PLA support filament for optimal results.
- Without AMS or PLA Support Filament: Use the provided profile, but exercise caution when removing supports. Be gentle & take your time.
🔨 Support Removal Tips:
- ✂️ Carefully detach outer supports.
- 🔪 Gently separate roots from internal supports using a fine blade or nails.
- 🔃 Slowly twist and remove internal supports to preserve the delicate structure.
Patience is essential to avoid damaging the intricate details. ⏳
