Modular Jewelry Box

Description
I have developed a jewelry box that is modular and freely expandable
The basic model consists of five drawers stacked on top of each other and an upright chain compartment
All elements are equipped with a push-to-open function
so the box maintains a clear, handle-less look from the outside
With a targeted press on the front, the respective drawer opens a bit
allowing it to be easily pulled out afterwards
Various inlays are provided for the drawers, allowing for flexible jewelry storage
Whether compartments for rings, dividers for earrings, or larger compartments for other pieces of jewelry – the inserts can be exchanged as needed and will be supplemented step by step
The chain compartment also works with push-to-open
With a press on the top visible surface, the pull-out moves upwards
Hooks are attached to the underside of this plate, where chains can be neatly hung and stored
This prevents chains from tangling or lying around messily
It is important to guide the pull-out upwards with your finger when opening it, as it otherwise springs up quite quickly
The jewelry box is primarily designed so that the height of five drawers exactly matches the height of the chain compartment
The expansion is mainly intended for sideways arrangement, so you can easily place several modules next to each other
If you don't want to use the chain compartment, you can, of course, stack the drawers higher or alternatively place the chain compartment separately
The construction is designed so that almost all parts are simply plugged together
Only the drawer slides are fastened with small screws to allow for a clean full extension with a stop
Everything else holds via plug connections
The Push-to-Open mechanism is particularly important
In my tests, it has been shown that this does not work with normal PLA. Due to continuous stress, the thin rods break or deform after a short time. While PLA-CF is more stable, it does not always work reliably – sometimes it runs smoothly, sometimes it jams or still breaks after some use
Therefore, I am working on testing the mechanism with more stable materials. Filaments with fiber additives, such as PA6-CF or Nylon, but also PETG-CF or PETG-GF, are particularly suitable. Such materials are significantly tougher, withstand continuous stress better, and do not deform as quickly as PLA. In principle, another very stable material without additives can also work if it is designed for mechanical loads
For anyone who wants to print the project already, the following applies: The push-to-open parts should absolutely be made with a reinforced or very stable material. If you have different filaments at home, feel free to try them out and provide feedback if any problems arise
If dimensional deviations occur due to other materials, I will adjust the model as needed so that it functions properly
In short: PLA is unsuitable, PLA-CF is only of limited use. Materials with fiber additives (CF/GF) or generally robust technical filaments are recommended
This results in a modular jewelry box that is functional, flexible, and at the same time visually tidy
Update V1.001.00 – Spacer for the chain compartment

There is now an 18 mm high spacer. This raises the spring slightly
allowing the pull-out to come further up when extended, providing more space to hang chains
The spacer is inserted as shown in the picture
Important: Be careful when sliding it on – the rod onto which the part is placed
can break very easily. If this happens, the entire part must be reprinted
