Hook
6 pieces, zero guesswork: 42 moves to complete the assembly (or take it apart), then 27 moves to release the first piece once the cube is fully built. Single-color for the pure challenge; tri-color for clearer piece grouping. Printable without supports

📖 Description
Following the success of Natrium, here comes Irony, another puzzle by Donald Osslaer (2012).
Still based on a 6-piece cross, but even more intricate:

  • 42 moves to complete the assembly (or neatly disassemble it).
  • 27 moves to release the first piece once the cube is assembled.

Unlike Natrium, the size and shape of the pieces already dictate their orientation — so the single/tri-color choice doesn’t affect difficulty, only readability

⚠️ Important:

  • Do not alter the provided print profile. The dimensions and tolerances are fine-tuned to ensure the puzzle works properly.
  • If printing outside Bambu Studio, make sure to enable the Precise Z option to preserve the fits.

Printing:

  • Single-color profile → all pieces on one plate.
  • Tri-color profile → one plate per family of pieces (easier to sort them).

Key points

  • Printable without supports.
  • 6 pieces.
  • 42 moves for full assembly/disassembly.
  • 27 moves to free the first piece from the assembled state.
  • Single-color (clean look) or tri-color (more visual).
  • ⚠️ Do not modify the print profile.
  • ⚠️ Outside Bambu: enable Precise Z.
  • Solution included in the documents — but try without first 😉

📝 Author’s notes
As a lifelong puzzle enthusiast, I’ve been recreating wooden models from my collection in Fusion 360 — and sometimes inventing new ones. Irony is part tribute to Donald Osslaer, part 3D-printing joy to share
