Description

With this bearing-based filament holder, your externally mounted filament can roll resistance-free. I print a lot of TPU and having the filament be fed unresisted is pretty important.

This is a heavily remixed and redesigned version of Eldenroot's Spool holder.

How to assemble

  1. Print all parts
  2. Glue the screw into the Roller Tray (it's a tight fit on purpose)
  3. Screw the roller tray onto the external filament arm (Left or right)
  4. Assemble the rollers with the bearings and drop the assembly into the tray

Non-Printed parts

What is different in this model?

  • Requires no hardware ( does require CA glue)
  • Much lighter, less parts.
  • It can be mounted left or right (the old model seemed to only work on the right).
  • Most important: This places the roller close to the centerline of the external holed which keeps the filament spool from pulling itself on top of the inner bearing,

Updates:

  • 10/07/2024:
    • Added print profile “V3” that includes the standard roller, and the rimmed roller
  • 07/17/2024:
    • Added single roller with a rim at each end to prevent the spool from ending up in the bearings.
  • 07/12/2024:
