🧩 Description

The Encaged Jewel is an original assembly puzzle that I designed entirely in Fusion 360.
It is inspired by the Triple Twins by AndresMF, but with several notable improvements:

  • Addition of a central jewel that must be completely trapped and hidden once the puzzle is solved.
  • One piece has been modified to increase the difficulty.
  • The cage is designed in two parts with a lid, avoiding the need for supports and offering an easier disassembly option.

⚡ The challenge is simple to explain, but much harder to achieve:
👉 Assemble all the pieces so that nothing sticks out, while the jewel remains fully imprisoned inside.

⚙️ Print Details

  • Number of build plates: 3
    • 1 plate with the cage (2 parts)
    • 1 plate with the 6 puzzle pieces
    • 1 plate with the jewel
  • Supports: None
  • Assembly: No glue required (unless you want to fix the lid to prevent cheating)
  • Tolerances: precisely adjusted in Fusion 360
  • Tip: avoid wood filaments, they make the fit far too tight

🔧 Depending on your printer and filament, tolerances may vary.
The top and bottom pieces have been given a little freedom on purpose, so the puzzle can be shaken to release the first parts more easily.

🎮 Rules of the Game

  1. Place the yellow jewel in the center of the cage.
  2. Fit all the pieces inside the cage.
  3. The puzzle is solved only when:
    • no piece is sticking out
    • the jewel is completely hidden and locked inside

⚠️ The lid is not part of the solution: it is only there to help with disassembly if the fit is too tight.
If your friends try to cheat by removing it, simply glue it shut!

💡 About

I’m passionate about puzzles and a collector of wooden and metal models.
For some time now, I’ve been recreating and designing my own 3D-printable versions, inspired by classics but always with my personal touch.

The Encaged Jewel continues this series: original puzzles, easy to print, accessible to everyone, yet still capable of testing your patience 😉
