Description
Because apparently microwaves need bespoke accessories now…
Fully customizable coupler for your microwave. When the one on my old Whirlpool broke, I discovered that hunting for a replacement is like chasing unicorns – nothing fit. So instead of ordering a dozen wrong parts, I made this: a coupler you can actually adjust. Print, tweak, and laugh at the absurdity that such a tiny plastic thing can ground an entire appliance.
Which filament?
PLA? PETG? Forget it. They’ll sag faster than cheese on a pizza stone. I used Polymaker HT-PLA-GF, and it’s holding up OK (more detail below). BambuLab has plenty of high-temp filaments (PET-CF, PA6-CF, PAHT-CF, etc.) that will turn your microwave coupler into overengineered space tech. I've added PET-CF to the BOM below, as it offers the best temperature resistance. Remember to anneal your part after printing if the filament you used is compatible with annealing.
🚨 BE CAREFULL !!!
I've used Polymaker HT-PLA-GF, and it works well except when microwaving popcorn or heating food in thick-foil containers. It seems that in these cases, the energy has nowhere to easily dissipate, so it is absorbed by the HT-PLA-GF. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of microwaves can explain this further in the comments. In other words, use this model in your own risk.
How to actually measure
If you can't measure your old coupler, here are a few tricks:
* Use a toothpick to measure the depth of the "sleeve" part.
* Use Blu-Tack to make an "imprint" of the motor shaft that you can measure.
