Description
Title: Koyuki’s Hair Ornament in Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle
Description:
This piece was created using a combination of 3D printing and traditional Japanese raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) techniques. The work exhibits an opalescent effect similar to that of an opal. Although photography cannot fully capture its gloss and layered textures, the physical piece shows delicate changes in light and shadow under proper lighting. Considering the era depicted in the movie, I believe this traditional technique would have been commonly used at the time.
Production Notes:
FDM Printing:
- For flat parts, it is recommended to print on a glossy PEI sheet to ensure a smooth surface.
- After printing, remove the two printed pieces.
- Open the control panel and adjust the print bed temperature to:
- PLA: 80°C
- PETG: 90°C
- Once the temperature is reached, place the “snowflake” piece on the flat plate and press it with an object for about 30 seconds. Remove it, then place it on another curved plate and flatten it.
- Use a cloth during pressing to avoid burns.
- After cooling, the piece is fully formed.
Resin (SLA/DLP) Printing:
- Curved parts can be printed directly, eliminating the need for subsequent shaping.
