【Inspiration】

This project was inspired by the X1/P1 series AMS Flipper by global site author @Jakob_K_Design

 

After repeatedly photographing and measuring the back of the H2D, and after multiple test prints, I successfully created this H2 series AMS Flipper

 

Many thanks to Jakob_K_Design for the innovative inspiration Unfortunately, the H2 series printers have fewer usable original screw holes on the back, and their positions are not as ideal as those on the X1/P1 series printers, making it impossible to design a minimalist and modern style like Jakob_K_Design's

The inspiration came from the popular and original AMS Flipper for X1/P1 project by @Jakob_K_Design from the international MakerWorld site.

 

After making numerous photographs and measurements of the back of my H2D printer, not to mention the multiple failed full size test prints, I have finally successfully developed this working AMS Flipper for H2 series printers.

 

Many thanks to the creative inspiration by Jakob_K_Design! Unfortunately, due to the very limited number of usable mounting holes on the back of the H2 series printers, I am unable to produce an AMS Flipper with such minimalistic contemporary design that is comparable to the original AMS Flipper by Jakob_K_Design.

  • This flipper uses 5 original screw holes on the back of H2 series printers for fixation, thereby increasing the load-bearing capacity of the flipper as much as possible
     
  • The bracket provides 5 cable routing slots for cabling needs in different directions The top two routing slots are suitable for AMS series function and for top TPU filament feed

  • Approximately 6~8 centimeters long filament (for locking the rear stopper)
  • Allen key
  • Aprox. 60~80 millimeters length of filament (for locking Rear Stopper Blocks);
  • Allen key/hex wrench (however it is called in your country).

[CAUTION] Please beware, the AMS Flipper is designed using metric measurement system, so are the bolt holes on the back of H2 series printers. Please use metric tools during assembly to avoid failure/damages to printer, AMS and AMS Flipper components.

 

[ Assembly/Assembly ]

 

【Step 1】

  1. Turn off printer power, unplug all cables and PTFE tubes
  2. Remove the top 3 self-tapping screws as shown in the figure below
  3. Remove the middle 2 countersunk screws as shown in the figure below

[Note] Please safely store the removed screws with the printer accessories

  1. Switch-off printer power, disconnect all cables and PTFE tubes;
  2. Remove top 3 self-tapping screws as indicated in picture below;
  3. Remove middle 2 threaded screws as indicated in picture below.

 

[Note] Please store removed screws with printer spare parts.

 

【Step 2】

  1. Flip the AMS unit
  2. Insert the corresponding pivot mounting clamp (base), ensuring it is fully inserted
  3. Secure with HB3x16 self-tapping screws
  4. Return the AMS unit to its upright position

 

[Note] BT3x16 is identical to Bambu Lab's original AMS transport screws Do not overtighten BT3x16 is the same as HB3x16

  1. Flip over your AMS unit;
  2. Fully insert AMS Pivot Mounting Brackets;
  3. Secure brackets using BT3x16 self-tapping screws;
  4. Flip AMS unit upright.

 

[Note] BT3x16 is identical to Bambu Lab's original AMS transport screws. Avoid over tightening!

 

【Step 3】

Install the flipper bracket:

  1. Use 3 HB3x16 self-tapping screws to secure the upper end
  2. Use 2 HM3x15 cylindrical knurled screws to secure the lower end (M3x16 can also be used)

 

[Note] It is recommended to use HM3x15 screws for lower end fastening

Install flipper rack:

  1. Use 3 BT3x16 self-tapping screws to secure upper portion;
  2. Use 2 HM3x15 cup threaded screws to secure lower portion (you may use M3x16 if unable to purchase HM3x15).

 

[Note] HM3x15 is recommended choice.

 

【Step 4】

  1. Push the AMS unit into place
  2. Insert the clamp pivot pins Pay attention to the orientation of the pivot when inserting into the positioning hole Repeat for the other side
  3. Insert and tighten the M3x30 countersunk screw

 

[Note] Do not overtighten

  1. Push AMS in place;
  2. Insert bracket pivot pins. Be mindful of pin orientation when inserting into alignment hole. Do the same for both sides;
  3. Insert and secure with M3x30 threaded screw.

 

[Note] Avoid over tightening!

Insert the rear stopper module according to your preference

 

The default is the 75° module If you feel it's not stable enough, you can use the 85° module

Choose according to your preferences, insert Rear Stopper blocks.

 

75° is the default block. If you do not have confidence in its stability, you can choose to install 85° stopper blocks.

Push the filament into the locking holes

Cut the filament flush

Push filament through locking holes;

Cut and trim ends of filaments.

  • The grille can be printed integrated with the bracket, no need to split
  • The "AMS Flipper" text in the grille can be recolored by changing the object filament category
  • The "AMS Flipper" text in the grille can be changed to a "negative part" to create colorless debossed text
  • The rear grill is print-in-place by default, no need to split objects;
  • The text colour of ‘AMS Flipper’ can be changed by switching to a different filament using the ‘object’ panel;
  • The object type of text ‘AMS Flipper’ can be changed to ‘Negative’ part to achieve deboss effect (no colour change).
