The MASS case is incredibly well-designed, but it's a shame that the hard drive bay wasn't compatible with a backplane. That's why I created this bottom-mounted hard drive bay adapter.

The first time I printed the MASS-Free hard drive bay, I learned the hard way—frankly, the support structure was terribly optimized, making it a really frustrating experience. So, I modified and improved the model for the hard drive bay.

The V2 version of the hard drive bay is compatible with the (Star Nas) Type B backplane.
The bottom part supports fans sized 12015 or 14015. I scrapped the 25cm fan option because the bridge for the fan mount was too fragile—it cracked under the slightest pressure. Instead, I reinforced that area.

I also reworked the hole layout and optimized the support structure. Now, printing it won’t consume an excessive amount of support material.

That said, I didn’t bother redesigning the fan cover for the base—I’ll leave that for someone else to improve upon.
Additionally, I discarded the original base design because, during my tests, it wasn’t stable enough. It works better to just let the hard drive bay sit directly on the surface.

Note: This hard drive bay design is not authorized for commercial use. This is hereby explicitly stated.
