Description

Super Mario Bros.

Fortress Siege
I don't really know the backstory, but somehow characters from the mushroom kingdom are going at each others fortresses with Bullet Bills and cannonballs. The facade is slowly cracking and the doors are about to fall. Finish the fight!

Load - Aim - Fire! 💥

[WORKS WITHOUT AMS]

This project sprang to mind when me and my boy threw balls at cups trying to knock them over.
But how about something a bit more 8-bit, relatable and fun? And with cannons.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN:

You can have two gray fortresses with metal doors, or brown fortress with wooden door.
Ofcourse it's all up to you what setup you want. You can have Bullet Bills and cannonballs, or just one or the other.
Do you want to be Mario, Luigi or Bowser? Switch flags in between fights.
(Yoshi, Peach and DK might show up too)

Rundown of the print profiles:

  • Fortress has a time-consuming ironing setting, but it gives it a really sleek and good look.
  • AMS needed for black outlines on the fortress and bricks. But not necessary, it's more cosmetic.
  • AMS needed for flags but they are also optional.
  • A few pieces needs glue, and others are optional - See assembly guide
  • Bullet Bills are heavier in front (Full infill) to try and get a more aerodynamic fly path.
  • Tolerances are down to 0,05mm in some places! Things should still fit, but can require glue/sanding.
  • All supports needed are already implemented, don't worry if Bambu Studios says otherwise.

NOTE ABOUT BULLET BILL:

  • Rubber bands with a diameter of about 50-70mm gives the proper force to propel ammunition.
Easy to change if you want to try your way forward.
  • Eyes are very optional to glue in place since it was a pain in the a**
  • THERE ARE TWO VARIANTS: One aims by itself, the other requires manual aim.

DISCLAIMER:

The bullets themselves don't really fly “head first”, since that would require a more rifled barrel.
(Think; how a bullet exits a gun with rotating force to keep it steady)

This is something I plan to see if it is possible to implement with plastic toys.

Rules suggestions:

Load up all the bricks in the respective places and just fire away!

3 tries per turn, so one get a chance to “lock in” the aim.
There are both Bullet Bills and smaller cannonballs to print, both works as ammunition and provides a little different options.
Bullets can take down both doors at the same time but are hard to get the windows with, while the cannonball provides the opposite.

Ideal distance looks to be about 80-100 cm (3.2 feet)

We came up with two different modes to when the brick is shot down:

Bullseyes make the brick fly out. But near misses or just brute force also make them move a little bit.

So either:

  • Only bullseyes permitted, brick falling out with secondary force are placed back.
  • All hits count and brick that fall nillywilly stays out.

Once all 5 brick pieces, the doors and windows are gone, you are the victor!

Some like to call it luck, but I like to call it.. well, luck I guess.
