Description
📦 Case for Andon Module – X1Plus Expander Board
🔗 Reference
This case was designed as an accessory for the X1Plus Expander board.
➡️ Official X1Plus Expander page on CrowdSupply
Scrolling down you’ll find the Andon module, which this case is made for.
🛠️ Overview
The case is divided into two parts and can be secured with two M2x8 cylindrical head screws, or equivalent Ø2 mm self-tapping screws.
👉 The M2 screw holes in the lower case are modeled with a sacrificial layer to avoid the need for supports.
Before assembly, the holes should be opened with a 2 mm drill bit to allow screw insertion.
Highlights:
- ✅ Module compatibility – the width is designed to align with other cased modules (more designs may follow).
- ✅ Hidden microswitches – actuated by 3D-printed cylindrical keycaps.
- ✅ LED diffusion – each LED shines through a conical hole with a small outlet, giving a fairly even light perception from most viewing angles.
- At 90° the brightness ramps up sharply, reaching its maximum.
- Even at full LED brightness, the light output remains balanced with the printer display, avoiding glare.
- ✅ Discrete buzzer – acoustically functional but visually hidden by a conical hole.
📂 Included STL Files
- Andon module lower case.stl – bottom part
- Andon module upper case.stl – top part
- Button.stl – cylindrical keycap for the microswitches
💡 Final Notes
The design is intended to be functional yet visually consistent with the look of the X1C.
Remixes are very welcome, and I’ve included the STEP files to make modifications easier.
