Sometimes it's the small everyday things that suddenly become real challenges. In our case: opening or closing a completely normal bottle. For my partner, this isn't easy due to her illness, as she lacks hand strength and finds it difficult to press firmly

We tried many bottle openers – sometimes the typical rings, sometimes variants that you stretch over the lid. But she never really got along with them. So I decided: I'll just design something myself that fits her perfectly

The result is this plier-shaped bottle opener. The idea was: a familiar and easy motion – like squeezing pliers together. No re-gripping, no fumbling, just clamp, squeeze, turn. Done

It is printed in three parts: a bottom part, a top part, and a small pin that holds both together – similar to scissors. My first prototype was made of PLA to quickly test the idea. And behold: it works! Bottles open and close, without pain, without frustration. For the final version, I plan to use PETG, so that the whole thing becomes even more stable and durable

In the end, it's not really a 'big project,' but rather an everyday helper with heart. For me, it was important: my partner should be able to open bottles independently again, without having to ask someone for help every time. And if a 3D printer and a little bit of tinkering can make that possible – all the better
