Description

This storage tray is based off the Gridifnity file tray by Simlk45, but modelled from scratch. I loved the overall concept of their design but a number of elements weren't quite what I needed.

This tray is designed to fit this five-piece file set from AliExpress. The handles on these files are 50 mm long, and the overall length of the files ranges from 145 to 150 mm.

Design

This tray is 2x4x3 standard Gridfinity units. It has a lip with notches for stackability. The base includes cut outs for 6x2mm magnets.

There is a finger cut out down the middle to make it easier to grab a file. The files can be pressed into the cut outs for a snug, secure fit, or rest them loosely in the tray

This tray can be printed with or without an AMS. The print profile for no AMS prints the contrasting colour face plate separately and it snaps into place (glue it down for extra security.)

Differences

  • Standard Gridfinity units tall
  • Lip with notches for stackability
  • Magnet cut outs in base
  • Multi-colour with no AMS
  • Designed for files with shorter handles
  • Finger cut out to grab files with ease

Printing

I recommend you print in PLA, which is the only filament I have tested, but would probably work with a variety of other filaments.
