Description

Fregatte F-126 – A Fully Functional 3D-Printed Model (RC Base)

 

This project presents a fully 3D-printed RC Frigate, inspired by the design of modern stealth warships. The model is not only an impressive display piece but was designed to be modular and functional so that it can be sailed and operated by radio control.

 

 Technical Details & Construction

 

  • Modular Hull: The hull is divided into several large sections, which facilitates printing on FDM printers. The distinctive red underwater hull (boat bottom) accommodates the entire propulsion system.
  • Propulsion System: The model uses two N20 motors (1000 RPM). The drive shafts are standard components sourced via AliExpress, which are combined with self-designed drive screws (propellers) to achieve optimal performance and customization.
  • Upper Deck and Superstructure: The upper deck and the superstructures (deckhouses) are also modular, allowing quick access to the electronics inside. The smooth, angular shapes of the superstructures emphasize the model's modern stealth design.

 

 Important Notes for RC Operation (Radio Control)

 

For anyone wishing to operate this model on the water, the following points must be strictly observed:

  • Stability and Tipping Hazard: Due to the construction and weight of the model, extra caution is advised when sailing. The ship is sensitive to fast maneuvers and can tip over in tight turns. Slow and controlled sailing is strongly recommended.
  • Sealing (Water Resistance): The watertight sealing of the hull is critical and must be done extremely carefully.
    • Additional Hull Sealing: It is absolutely mandatory to seal the entire hull additionally (e.g., with epoxy resin or special sealant) to ensure complete watertightness.
    • O-Rings for Rudders: The passages for the rudder shafts must be fitted with O-rings to prevent water from entering at these critical points.

 

Features and Details

 

  • Armament and Sensors:
    • The main cannon on the bow is designed to be rotatable and traversable as a special feature.
    • A close-range missile system and various secondary armaments and sensors are integrated into the superstructures.
  • Helicopter Deck and Helicopter: The stern features a detailed helicopter landing deck and a separately printed helicopter model.
  • Additional Equipment: Two cranes and an inflatable boat (RHIB, Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) are included as additional deck details, giving the model a high degree of realism.
  • Display Presentation: A black display stand featuring the lettering "Fregatte F-126" is included.
