"Kaihu" Work Update Fourth Version Description (20251115)

Based on everyone's suggestions, the "Kaihu" work has been improved for easier processing and miniaturization, upgrading to a mini version

1. Considering teenagers and women with smaller hands, the outer diameter of the pot body has been reduced from 58mm to 50mm, and the curvature adjusted to solve the problem of bottom deformation during printing on some A1 models

2. Optimized internal structure, filament consumption reduced from 53g to 35g, further reducing the pot body's operating resistance, printing time shortened from 2:43 to 2:03

3. Optimized the pot handle structure for easier grip, solving finger interference issues when pushing from the bottom

4. Eliminated the need to print and glue magnetic column gaskets by assembling magnetic columns during print pauses

5. Optimized the bottom bearing snap-fit to resolve cutting issues during steel bearing assembly

Materials:

Magnets (same as V3):

6 magnets, 5mm diameter, 3mm thick

1 magnetic bead, 4mm diameter

Bearings (same as V3):

1 ceramic bearing 608CE-2RS (8mm inner diameter, 22mm outer diameter, 7mm thick, ceramic, double-sealed)

1 hybrid bearing SR188 ZZ (6.35mm inner diameter, 12.7mm outer diameter, 4.763mm thick, ceramic, sealed)

Filament:
PLA Matte series, Dark Night Brown 11801

Assembly Notes:

1. Pot body magnet installation: When printing automatically pauses, please install the cylindrical magnets, ensuring the magnetic poles are opposite to those of the pot lid. Insert a helical clip into the upper part of the magnet to prevent it from being attracted by the print head. Once printing is complete, remove it from the top hole with tweezers, then insert the magnetic bead

2. Pot body bearing assembly: First, snap the 608 bearing into the "base shaft", push it in evenly with your palm. A crisp "click" sound indicates the snap-fit is correctly assembled

3. Pot lid bearing assembly: First, press the SR188 bearing into the central hole of the "pot lid" from below, then glue and press in the "lid knob base". Once flattened, this indicates the bearing's outer ring is assembled. Finally, press the "lid knob" into the bearing's inner ring from above. A crisp "click" sound indicates the snap-fit is correctly assembled

4. Adjustment and sanding: The layer lines on the curved surfaces significantly affect the smooth feel of pushing the lid. After assembly, it is recommended to sand the concave surface inside the pot body and the curved groove on the underside of the pot lid

5. Regarding bearings: Ceramic bearings are recommended. If you plan to further reduce costs, steel precision-ground bearings can also be used after testing. An open 608 bearing adds approximately +1g to the total weight and costs only 50% of a ceramic bearing

"Kaihu" Work Update Third Version Description (20251101)

According to the request of a national culture enthusiast in my family, a "Good Fortune" design element has been added to the "Kaihu" work, while also aiming to reduce "processing difficulty and product weight". The work's structure, accessory selection, and assembly process have been optimized, resulting in the third version update plan

1. Added a "Good Fortune" element, utilizing the added rotating shaft structure at the bottom and lid of the pot to achieve smooth rotation of the pot body
2. Simplified the pot body, integrating the original curved bottom structure into the overall pot body, removing the pivot point magnetic column reservation function, reducing the number of printed parts, with filament consumption <60g and printing time <3h
3. Bearings are snap-fit assembled, simplifying the overall assembly process
4. This release only includes a single-color scheme and a pot body without inscriptions
5. Materials:

Update Description (Second Version 20251018)

"Kaihu" was designed for elders in my family who love mahjong. During the time it's been shared, we've received a lot of feedback from printing and trying it out, which helps to refine the direction of the work. Next, I will continue to optimize the work based on everyone's suggestions, and I will also continue to update prints and share processing techniques, hoping to create a Chinese-style EDC that everyone loves. 1. The internal double track of the curved part has been optimized into a cross track to solve the problem of the pot lid coming off due to excessive pushing force, and fan-shaped grooves have been added to reduce the resistance of the pot lid turning
2. The joint between the pot lid and the curved part is offset 3mm downwards, so the seam is located inside the pot lid, optimizing the appearance of the gap and reducing assembly difficulty
3. The pot body's print profile has been changed to 0.16mm, and layered settings have been added for other parts to reduce the appearance of layer lines and contact surface resistance. Printing time has increased, with a single set taking approximately 3~4h
4. The base has been modified to a single magnetic bead with a magnetic column structure, further reducing lid pushing resistance and improving the tactile feel of the limit vibration (Magnet material update: 6 magnets, 5mm diameter, 3mm thick; 1 magnetic bead, 4mm diameter)
5. By adjusting the magnetic gap fitting structure, the plastic collision sound when reaching the limit has been changed to a crisp metallic tapping sound
6. This update makes the old pot body universally compatible. When disassembling, press the magnets in the recessed base inwards, repeatedly pry the holes left and right with a screwdriver to loosen them from the pot body, and then gradually pull them out

Chinese Style Teapot EDC — "Kaihu"

Carry it on your bag as an EDC, rub it at the card table to relieve stress, rub it when you win to attract wealth

Designed for avid mahjong players in the family, suitable for single-handed play, imitating the shape, color, and texture of sand in hand. Rubbing the pot back and forth in your palm while playing cards symbolizes "winning every hand". The inside of the teapot lid is designed with a magnetic suction and ball-bearing curved structure, which can automatically lock at a 40° opening. The opening is designed in four directions, symbolizing "wealth from all directions". Playing with it single-handedly, opening and closing has a distinct impact and sound; pressing it down with a "ka" sound is like the crisp sound of a "pong" in mahjong, lifting it up with a "ta" sound as it springs open is like the neatness of a "chow". Your fingertips can feel the rebound force of the lid, similar to the reassuring feeling of holding good cards, symbolizing that opening the pot means "winning big"
Pot body inscription: "Wonderful" signifies the current companionship, the wish for wealth, and the wonderful stress relief — it's simply good enough

According to fan requests for carrying the pot, a tactical bag clip has been designed for "Kaihu", suitable for quick one-handed attachment and retrieval, for stress relief and play anytime, anywhere↓
