Description
FLING. CATCH. FETCH.
A fast‑paced scoop‑and‑catch game that brings energetic play to your yard. Whether you’re challenging a friend or giving your dog a new way to burn off energy, HyperCatch delivers lightweight scoops, satisfying throws, and plenty of laughter.
At Ozarkexpeditions, we set out to reinvent classic scoop ball by combining the satisfying arc of jai alai with the accessibility of a yard game and the adaptability to play fetch. HyperCatch features a scoop and handle that's easy to assemble. It's an activity that encourages movement, quick reflexes, and family bonding. Designed to print cleanly on the H2 series printers, the curved scoop gives each throw extra spin while the open grid keeps weight down. We love how the game looks in bright colors, we can't wait to see what colors everyone prints theirs in. It's impressive how far kids and adults can fling the ball with a flick of the wrist.
📢 New Smaller Print Profile for X/P/A1 printers! - requires M2.5x16 screws, and while it still fits a pickleball, you might want to find a smaller TPU ball to print from MakerWorld!
Gameplay
- Players: 1-2 players or 1 player and a pet.
- Objective: Keep the rally going as long as possible by exchanging throws and catches. Count successful catches or increase distance after each catch.
- How it works: Each player holds a scoop. Place the ball in your scoop, flick it toward your partner, and try to catch it in theirs. Adjust your wrist to add spin or arc.
- Reset: If you miss a catch, simply scoop the ball off the ground and continue.
Game Variants
- Rally Challenge: Set a timer for 60 seconds and see how many continuous catches you can string together with a friend.
- Distance Duel: Take a step back after every successful catch, last person to drop the ball wins.
- Solo Practice: Toss the ball upward and catch it yourself to work on flicking and catching skills.
- Fetch Mode: Launch the ball for your dog and let them return it. Use the scoop to pick up the ball without touching it.
- Team Relay Circle: Form a circle and pass the ball down around using only scoops.
Printing & Assembly
- All parts are designed to print without supports; the scoop and handle are printed seperately and feature a press-fit design accompanied by 4 M3x20mm screws. Buy the hardware from Bambu or here is an amazon link to the screw kit I use: https://amzn.to/3KXGlAV . If you need pickleballs, I'd recommend these from amazon, https://amzn.to/46PQOXM , or find you favorite airless ball from MakerWorld to print in TPU or PLA tough+.
- Recommended materials: PLA tough+ or PETG for everyday play.
- Compatible ball size: up to ~77mm pickleball, foam or rubber balls. For fetch, choose a pet‑safe ball of similar size if you're playing with a furry companion.
Safety & Care
Always supervise children and pets during play to prevent chewing or swallowing. Avoid launching hard or heavy balls that could damage the scoop or cause injury to others. Store scoops out of direct sunlight to preserve material strength. Inspect regularly for wear and reprint if necessary.
