The pressure plate of my ceiling support rod was damaged, so I modeled a new version in Fusion 360

Technical Details

  • Hole Diameter: 20.60 mm → Allows for a functional clearance so the ball clips in with force, without coming out
  • Tested Ball Diameter: approximately 19 mm → Firm hold and fully functional ball joint

Print Settings

  • Filament Used: PETG → Mandatory to prevent breakage during insertion (PLA breaks easily)
  • Infill: 100% → Rectilinear pattern for maximum pressure resistance
  • Layer Height: 0.16 mm → Precision needed for a good fit
  • Supports:
    • present to support the small extrusion for preventing the ball from returning, but the part can be printed without supports In this case, two small filaments will appear, to be cut with pliers → No impact on solidity or final appearance

Functionality

  • Small integrated extrusion to prevent the ball from returning
  • Model tested in real conditions: the ball joint works perfectly (see photos)
