Description
🌀 Parametric Spiral Strap Generator for TPU Belts
This OpenSCAD script generates a customizable spiral-shaped strap, ideal for creating flexible TPU belts, coiled tension bands, or modular fastening systems. The spiral is built from a continuous ribbon path, ensuring smooth unrolling and consistent thickness throughout. Designed for precision and adaptability, it’s perfect for prototyping wearable components, cable wraps, or deployable structures.
🔧 Adjustable Parameters
- spiral_width: Defines the strap’s thickness in millimeters. This controls both the printed width and the spacing between loops.
- spiral_radius: Sets the maximum outer radius of the spiral. The entire design fits within a square area of 170×170 mm when set to 85 mm.
- turns: Number of spiral loops. More turns increase the total strap length while keeping the footprint compact.
- segments_per_turn: Controls the smoothness of the spiral curve. Higher values yield cleaner geometry for slicing and printing.
- layer_height: Sets the extrusion height of the strap. Adjust for single-layer prints or multi-layer reinforcement.
🧵 Use Cases
- TPU belts: Print and unroll for flexible tension straps or wearable loops.
- Cable organizers: Use as a peelable spiral wrap for bundling wires.
- Deployable structures: Integrate into modular systems that expand from a compact coil.
- Custom fasteners: Combine with hooks, tabs, or magnets for reusable closures.
🛠️ Print Tips
- Optimized for 0.6 mm nozzle with two perimeter walls.
- Use flexible filament like TPU for bendable, durable results.
- Print flat with minimal infill; the spiral unrolls into a long, uniform strip
