Description

šŸ”„ Update v1.1: The antenna has been retuned and optimized for 868 MHz for improved SWR performance.
This version provides better matching and overall efficiency.

šŸ“” Moxon Antenna for 868 MHz (Meshtastic / LoRa)

🧭 A directional Moxon antenna optimized for the 868–869 MHz EU868 LoRa / Meshtastic band.
It provides improved range and signal stability compared to standard whip antennas.
The antenna is configured for vertical polarization by default but can easily be rotated for horizontal use.

āš™ļø The model includes two mounting versions:

  • 🧱 Wall-mount version
  • šŸ–„ļø Desktop stand version

šŸ”© The radiating elements are made from solid copper wire taken from a 1.5 mm² electrical cable — single-core, twin, or three-core types all work fine.
Connection is made via an SMA pigtail — a short coaxial cable with an SMA connector.
šŸ“Ž Photos of these two components — the copper wire and the SMA pigtail — are attached in the documentation section below.
All printed parts are designed for standard PLA filament.

🧰 Assembly instructions:

  1. Carefully extract the solid copper wire from a 1.5 mm² electrical cable.
  2. Bend the wire following the printed antenna frame and fit it precisely into place.
  3. Use wire cutters to trim each segment very accurately — exact lengths are important for correct antenna tuning.
  4. Solder the coaxial cable (SMA pigtail) — connect the shield and center conductor to the two radiating elements.
  5. Fix the wires securely in the printed frame and mount the antenna as needed (wall or desktop version).

šŸ“ Specifications:

  • Type: directional Moxon loop antenna
  • Frequency: 868–869 MHz (EU868 band)
  • Gain: approx. 4–6 dBi
  • Polarization: linear (vertical or horizontal)
  • Beamwidth: ~100–180 °
  • Impedance: 50 Ī©

šŸ› ļø Easy to print and assemble — ideal for Meshtastic, LoRa, and other 868–869 MHz communication systems.
