Description

Rack mountable cases are really hard to find in my country, so I managed to find a crypto mining case, and retrofitted it to be a storage server. There are quite a few stackers on here, but none worked for me, mostly due to dimensions.

NOTE: You might see some issues in the model on the images, these are mostly due to different settings I tried while modeling. Also due to small changes and iterrations in the model.

I've used the default 20mm standard from Bambu lab in the end

I started with THIS model for the bay, but realized it won't work for my needs, so decided to do it from ground up.

I started with THIS model for the caddy, but also realized it wont work, so I designed one without the need for supports, that fits my needs and dimensions a lot better.

About the model:

  • No supports needed, all are already added to the model
  • The bay uses a sliding mechanism to connect to the next one. Clips are there only to make it more sturdy.
  • Optional clips to make it sturdy
  • It is designed to be airflow, so there is enough room between each bay for air to go trough.
  • 3 different sizes, from 36 to 44mm
  • Tight margins, so there is no wobble in the model
  • If laid on its back, the total height is 17.2cm
  • If laid on its back, there are cutouts on the bottom for cable management, e.g. if You want to run cables underneath it.
  • Optional info tags where you can put sticky notes on, to more easily recognize what drive is in there.

Included You have:

  • Sketchup versions of all files for future editing
  • STL versions of the 38 - 46mm heights
  • STL versions of the 38 - 46mm height end pieces, that don't have the sliding connectors to the next one.
  • STL versions of the clips
  • STL versions of the caddy tray
  • STL version of the name tags
