Description
Be sure to read the entire description before printing.
Thermal insulation for the EIBOS Polyphemus filament dryer.
A frame for maintaining thermal insulation in the form of 2 cm thick XPS foam boards.
The objectives of this project:
- Better drying of the filament by maintaining a higher temperature throughout the entire volume of the dryer.
- Electricity savings.
You will need:
- 20 mm thick XPS foam board (available at building supply or model shops)
- 3x12 mm self-tapping screws - BT3x12 SHCS - 17 pcs.
- Screws from the original handle.
To cut the shapes correctly in the XPS foam, I have attached a PDF file with templates to print on A4 paper. Just make sure that the printout is made without changing the scale (100% scale).
Contrary to appearances, it is better to cut a little smaller than too big, as there will be a problem with twisting the structure.
Use the appropriate filament for printing, depending on what you are drying in the dryer.
The dryer can dry at a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, so if you want to use its full potential, print with ASA.
I dry PLA and PETG in my dryer, so PETG is sufficient for my needs.
Do not print with PLA.
The assembly instructions are shown in the video.
