The 'Colossus' Pattern Heavy Warstrider
Rediscovered from fragmented STC data on the lost Forge World of Argus-Prime, the 'Colossus' Pattern Warstrider is a testament to humanity's forgotten technological might. Less sophisticated than an Astartes Dreadnought but far more heavily armed and armored than a standard Sentinel, the Colossus serves as a mobile heavy weapons platform for the elite regiments of the Astra Militarum and Solar Auxilia.
Its resilient chassis, protected by thick plating, can withstand punishing fire while its advanced sensor suite scans the battlefield for high-priority targets. Armed with twin-linked heavy auto-cannons and a carapace-mounted missile system, the Colossus is designed for one purpose: total battlefield annihilation.
This model is perfect as a centerpiece for your army, a proxy for a heavy support unit, or just an incredible painting project.
Print Instructions
The model shown in the photos was printed with PLA (FDM), proving you can get fantastic results without resin!
- Layer Height: A layer height of 0.12mm is recommended for a good balance of detail and print time. For even higher quality, use 0.08mm.
- Supports: Tree (Organic) supports are essential for this model.
- Support Placement: This is a strong but complex model. Be sure to place supports under:
- The barrels of the twin autocannons.
- The missile pods on the shoulders.
- The "chin" and visor of the cockpit.
- Any deep overhangs on the leg joints, reverse-knee, and feet.
- The underside of the main torso "belly".
Optional Tip for FDM Printers: This is a tall model. For an easier print with fewer supports and less risk of failure, consider cutting the model in half (e.g., at the waist or torso) using your slicer (like PrusaSlicer or Bambu Studio). You can then print the two halves separately and glue them together. This will significantly reduce the print height and the amount of support material needed for the upper body.
Take your time with supporting in your slicer to ensure a clean, successful print!
