Eel Harvest Board Game [Single-Color Playable]

Try to catch more eels, but be careful of snakes!

Basic Info

• Duration: 20min
• Players: 2-8

Game Components

• 68 tokens: 51 eel tokens, 17 snake tokens (1/4 of tokens are snakes)
• 32 double-sided scoring tokens: 16 of each of 2 types (front 1 back 2, front 5 back 10)
• 1 blind draw bag (prepare your own, any opaque bag will do. Reference size is 17cm long, 15cm wide. Or use the additional variant rule set, see below)

Feel free to purchase a cloth bag with a drawstring, it can be used for storage and as a blind draw bag, and is easy to carry, so you can play a round with friends anytime~

1. Game Setup

1. Set aside the scoring tokens.
2. Put all tokens (51 eels and 17 snakes) into the bag and mix thoroughly.
3. Select the starting player for the first round, and give them the bag containing the tokens.

2. Game Flow

• Players take turns (default: pass the bag to the player on the left) drawing 0-4 tokens and holding them in their hand (2-player game: draw 0-6 tokens).
• After all players have drawn, simultaneously reveal the tokens they drew. Rules for drawing 0 tokens or drawing too many tokens by mistake are described below.
• If the total number of snakes on the center of the table and in all players' hands reaches a "snake outbreak", the player holding the most tokens (eels and snakes) loses all eels they have collected so far. Other players score points based on the number of eels in their hands. If not reached, the round continues.
• Place the eels you caught next to you, place all caught snakes in the center of the table, end this turn, and repeat the previous steps.

Drawing 0 Tokens

When drawing 0 tokens, exit the current round. Gain scoring tokens equal to the number of eels in front of you. Return all eels in front of you to the bag and mix thoroughly. You cannot draw any more tokens until the start of the next round. If all players exit, start the next round.

Drawing Too Many Tokens by Mistake

If you mistakenly draw 5 or more tokens (2-player game: 7 or more tokens), you are immediately eliminated from this round.

Return all eels and snakes in your hand, and all eels already caught in this round, to the bag. Rejoin the game from the next round.

However, if all other players agree, you may return the tokens in your hand to the bag, immediately draw 4 new tokens (6 tokens in a 2-player game), reveal these tokens, and then continue playing.

3. Winning Condition

At the end of a round, if a player reaches 20 points, the game ends. The player with the highest score wins. In case of a tie, the player who exited earlier in the final round is the loser. If still tied, victory is shared.

Optional Additional Rules

• At the start of a new round, the first player to draw tokens rotates to the player on the left of the first player from the previous round.
• During a snake outbreak, other players score points based on the total number of eels drawn in the current and previous turns.
• When only one player remains, they can choose to continue or stop drawing. It can be stipulated that only one or a few more rounds of drawing are allowed.

Component Preparation

Includes the following components:

4. D4 dice (requires 100% infill for printing)
5. 12mm D6 dice (compatible with 14mm)

Other components excluding D4 dice refers to the box, lid, 'Draw 0' token, and D6 dice.

How to Use

If you want to draw this round, place the 'Draw 0' token at the bottom of the box, place the dice according to the number you want to draw (as shown in the figure below for drawing three), and close the lid.

If you do not want to draw this round, place the 'Draw 0' token on top, and close the lid.

You can also use the lid as a base and the box as a lid. The top left indicates no drawing; the number on top of the dice indicates the quantity to draw, for example, the bottom left indicates drawing 4. Gently shake the box when closing it for easier operation, and be careful when opening the lid.

According to the quantity indicated by the D6 dice, roll the corresponding number of D4 dice. If the special marked face is at the bottom, it means a snake was drawn. As shown in the figure below, the left side indicates drawing an eel, and the right side indicates drawing a snake. Take the corresponding number of eels and snakes into your hand according to the number of dice in the corresponding state.
