Another endeavor completely underestimated by me - creating a simple advent calendar After a lot of time and test prints, it's finally finished just in time (at least for me) and now only needs to be filled (my next 24 problems :-))

It's a solid block that also requires a lot of filament and print time (especially due to the necessary support materials because I just couldn't manage to sensibly break it down into several easily assembleable parts) - I also had a version with thinner walls (3 instead of 4 layers), but that didn't seem stable enough to me, and I wanted to print it so that it's suitable not only for the Advent season but also for playing with throughout the year - for this reason, there are also cover versions with Lego brick-compatible studs to serve as a base for adventures

I made an effort to ensure that the drawers (my preferred version alongside the originally designed snap-in “doors”) fit well - meaning they slide in and out without too much resistance and without being too loose - but mainly due to print variances of the base block, they can sometimes stick slightly, and differently depending on the slot - here it always helped me to file the corners in the base slots a bit clean and to check if print problems caused any protruding edges (simply file these smooth as well), and especially to deburr the edges of the drawers themselves a bit (a chamfer is already designed, but with a little fine-tuning, all "stickiness" was quickly resolved for me) You can also remove a little height from the side parts “at the top” with a deburring tool and thus vary how smoothly you want the compartments to move (I preferred them a bit tighter so they don't open too easily and you have to use the key)

If you also have a Minecraft fan in your family or circle of friends whom you want to make happy, you are warmly invited to bring rolled filament into its one true form - nice and blocky :-)

Here, as always, is the link to the OnShape Design if you want to make your own adjustments

Have fun printing and gifting

I am grateful for suggestions for improvement - be it for a practical version for “everyday use” or for Advent 2026 Here are the points collected so far

  • Reinforcement of the drawer front/lock to prevent breakage when drawers are stuck and pulled hard with the key (Drawer profile replaced with reinforced fronts on 01.12.2025)
  • Smaller version for A1 mini (New profiles for base, grass cover, and drawers added on 01.12.2025)
