Cardboard Connector

Christmas is coming again, and there's endless cardboard accumulating, making you wonder what to do with all that stuff. Not just at Christmas, but all year round, our household generates a lot of cardboard waste that can be repurposed to bring joy to children.

Children love building forts, so I thought about how to best use the cardboard from gift packaging. This activity stimulates children on many levels and promotes motor skills and cognitive abilities. Incidentally, self-esteem and self-confidence are strengthened!!! Nothing makes children prouder than when they can show their creations to their loved ones and receive appropriate praise for them!!!

So I designed connectors that are easy for even the youngest children to use and have no sharp edges.

All corners are rounded, and the connectors can be attached to various thicknesses of cardboard without much force, yet they hold well.

In the pictures, you can see the work of my then 5-year-old daughter. She had an incredible amount of fun building her house and spent a lot of time there in the following days and would have loved to sleep in it ;o))

The print settings ensure good strength of the connectors, so no accidents occurred during extensive testing.

The connectors were also used with children in our child and youth welfare services, in motopedagogical programs, and they withstood this practical application and brought a lot of fun to the children.

In this set, you can print the following files:

Straight connectors, for joining walls.

90-degree connectors, for joining corners.

45-degree connectors, for joining roof cardboard,

Hinges, for joining windows and doors.

Here you can get super creative with your kids, for example, first build the fort and then paint it, enlarge it, build a garden with a fence, etc. There are no limits to creativity here.
