Hello everyone!
In Ancient Egypt, life depended on the river's height. To measure it, they built structures that descended into the water: the Nilometers. Today, I bring you my recreation of these famous sacred stairs.
This piece is, possibly, the most versatile in the "Submerged Sands" collection. It's not just a pretty ruin; it's a transitional piece that connects different heights of your landscape.
Why is this design essential for your setup?
- 🐢 The Perfect Ramp (Paludariums/Turtles): If you have an aquarium with a dry area or low water levels, these stairs are the ultimate water exit. The steps are wide and rough, offering perfect grip for turtles, crabs, or newts to come out to breathe or bask without slipping.
- 🏠 The Side Cave: Look at the right side. I've utilized the volume under the stairs to create a deep, dark cave. It's the ideal hiding spot for bottom-dwelling fish or cichlids seeking privacy, making use of space that would normally be lost.
- ⛰️ Level Play (Aquascaping): In a planted aquarium, you can use these stairs to separate two substrate heights. If you place high substrate on the left and low on the right, the stairs act as a natural retaining wall, creating a brutal sense of depth.
- 🦐 Shrimp Terraces: Shrimp love to perch on flat surfaces. Seeing them lined up on the steps "cleaning" the stone is a very curious visual spectacle.
Technical Details:
- 📂 Format: High-resolution STL.
- 🧱 Solidity: It's a solid and stable piece. It won't tip over if a large turtle climbs on it.
- 📏 Design: Worn limestone texture, ideal for painting with dry brush techniques in ochre or gray tones.
