SH3D – Xbox OG Slim Case

Original Xbox Slim – Complete Case Redesign (Remix) by SH3D

This project is a comprehensive redesign of the Original Xbox Slim case.
Originally created by ShinGoutetsu, later expanded by PlasticBurner and PrimeRetroGamer, and now rebuilt by SH3D as a completely new two-piece enclosure.

Note: This model is a fully independent reconstruction created from scratch based on my own measurements. No geometry or files from the referenced models were reused or imported. The design is inspired by the remix chain but significantly reworked both technically and visually.

🎨 What’s New? – Full Redesign as a 2-Piece Case

The original model was made up of many individual components.
This remix, however, has been reconstructed as a fully assembled, unified case.

New Structural Concept

  • Only two main parts:
    Bottom shell + Top cover
  • Internal additions:
    Shroud
    Power button mount

This results in an easier-to-print, cleanly screw-fastened, visually seamless enclosure.

🆕 Top Cover Design Variants

The top cover is available in four fully redesigned variants:

  1. Logo with large “X” across the entire lid
  2. Logo text only
  3. Logo with circular design
  4. Logo with a thin “X” spanning the whole lid

🛠️ Technical Updates & Improvements

  • Power button pillars realigned → ensures a straight, properly seated power button
  • PCB stoppers reinforced → reduced play and improved button stability
  • Top cover screw holes redesigned
now recessed for M3 socket head screws, sitting fully flush with the surface
  • Two bottom shell variants:
    – With rounded ventilation slots
    – Without rounded edges

These changes do not make the case “more robust” but instead ensure a clean, functional build and a cohesive final assembly.

🤝 Community Project

This model is intended to grow together with the community.
If multiple users request the same feature, idea, or design element, I will gladly integrate it into future updates.

Individual one-off requests will not be implemented — but if there is demand, the design will be expanded accordingly.

🧩 Quick Assembly Guide

1. Print all parts

Bottom shell, top cover, shroud, power button mount.

2. Open the original Xbox

  • Don’t forget the screw under the sticker
  • Remove the screws under the rubber feet

3. Remove and reinstall the power supply

  • Unscrew the PSU and remove it from the old case
  • Install it into the new bottom shell
  • Reuse the original screws

4. Transfer the power button & PCB

  • Remove the power button and its PCB
  • Install them into the new mount
  • Secure with original screws

5. Transfer the mainboard

  • Remove the mainboard from the old case
  • Mount it in the new bottom shell
  • Again: use original screws

6. Install controller ports (1 & 2)

  • Transfer ports 1 and 2
  • Secure with original screws
  • Install the fan →
    Recommended: Noctua 40×40×20 mm, 12V, 3-pin
together with the printed fan shroud

7. Mount the SSD to the top cover

  • Install the SSD in the designated position
  • Reconnect and neatly route all cables

8. Close the case

  • Place the top cover onto the bottom shell
  • Fasten with M3 socket head screws, fully recessed
