Im a hobbyist with ambitions. You can find me here and on other Platforms. My main Platform is TikTok. The time for my Website is rare so please do not expect too much updates. On TikTok you should find daily videos about 3d printing and my Journey! Please consider following me and keep asking questions, i will try to help everybody as long as i am able too!

About this model

This model originated from my sister-in-law's wish. She wanted a classic rocking horse with Christmas decorations underneath for her Advent wreath. Of course, I once again bit off more than I could chew and said: "...no problem, I can do it!"

Long Story Short:

I managed it, but the effort was enormous, much greater than expected! The model was generated from a prompt text to a 3D model using AI. What came out looked pretty good, but was fundamentally unprintable. I then spent several nights adapting the model with Nomad Sculpt and TinkerCAD to get it into a state where it was easily printable

It's a shame that AI is still far from being able to generate easily printable models or respond to the demands of 3D printing. The result was desired in PLA-Wood, which made printing even more difficult. Since I am a bit of a perfectionist, as people often tell me, there are ultimately several versions of this model. The visually best one is shown in the picture (top, black horse)

About the print - IMPORTANT!

(Please read before profile selection and printing!!!)

This model is not easy to print! I tested several variants, one of them with a cut in the middle. I personally find this cut really terribly ugly, but both in my TikTok community and on Facebook and my sister-in-law prefer this variant because it is easier to print and offers better results for the runners!

The rocking horse printed upright has problems here with its ability to rock due to the supports, at least as long as you don't post-process it. I personally am not a fan of long post-processing, so the method of gluing it together was obvious. However, without clamps, this separation line appears in the middle

I have created and uploaded both print profiles, so you can decide which variant you want to use!

It is likely that slight post-processing will be necessary for almost every print, even if it's just sanding the runners.

Important note

I am not a professional designer, which is why I used AI to create this model in its basic form. After the basic creation, there were still some areas that were unsightly and unprintable. Here I added and straightened shapes. Later, I imported the entire model into Nomad Sculpt to smooth out unevenness and create proper symmetry. Creating the suitable print profiles took almost 2 weeks and consumed a good 4 kilos of material until it was printable in a sufficiently good quality and, most importantly, reproducibly!

I have already opened a service ticket asking whether the model, despite extensive post-processing, should still be considered a purely AI-generated model and whether I might also be allowed to register it for the Printmas 2025 competition. I probably won't be allowed to, but I want to keep that option open. If Bambu says: It's okay if it's not a pure AI generation but has been heavily processed afterwards, then I will register it. For now, it will unfortunately remain excluded from the competition

***** Update ****

After consulting with the MakerWorld Team, submitting the model to the competition is fine, as AI only served as a support here

*****************

For this reason, I would be very grateful for your support, because this project once again involved a bit of big talk and a lot of work, so as not to fall flat on my face

Tested materials and configurations:

split, tree supports, adaptive layers, failed:

Bambu PLA Matte, Latte

Nextshape PLA Wood optic

Jayo/SunLu PLA Wood Maple Wood

split, classic supports, adaptive layers, successful:

Jayo/SunLu PLA Wood Maple Wood

Nextshape PLA Wood Optic

Model uncut, upright, tree supports successful:

Eryone PLA Standard black

eSun PLA Lite white

Model upright with trimmed tail, slim tree supports successful:

Eryone PLA Standard Black

SunLu PLA White matte

SunLu Jayo PLA Wood Maple Wood

Total failed prints: 14 in various sizes

Conclusion:

If the model is printed split with connectors and classic supports or a support material, success is almost guaranteed. A clean nozzle and build plate are prerequisites. I successfully printed on the H2D, the P2S, the X1C, and the A1 mini. However, if the model is printed scaled down, the area around the Christmas tree top quickly becomes a problem, as the supports there are difficult to remove. The split version is still the most beautiful, but only with adaptive layers, unless one prefers or likes the more angular look that makes the model appear milled. My wife also found that beautiful. In that sense, I am uploading this standard profile first. All other print profiles will follow in a few minutes

If you like my work there are a lot of way how to support me!

The easiest and most direct way is to leave a boost…

Boost Me (for free)

The most easy way to support me and my work! Due to the many boosts i recieved here i was already able to safe my printers and my supply of spare parts more than one time! You keep me running and every single boost helps! Let me thank you all for your consideration!

You can also support me with a membership! They start at the lowest tier possible here on makerworld. For just 3 bucks a month you can force me to continue uploading more and new models ;-) I wouldn´t be able to leave a month without new models when there are people who support me with their hard earned money… LoL therefore im to well educated ;-)

Also you can use my Amazon links in the descriptions, when i tell which Filament i use! Links like this here:

Buy PLA Filaments on Amazon

But the most convenient way to support me, without paying anything is to follow me on TikTok, leave some likes, share some videos and spread the message that im there!

If you are a designer, you can also contact me to show your models, if you are a shop or manufacturer feel also free to reach out! Im here to show people the beauty of 3D printing and sharing my journey in this hobby. Showing off what others can do is also part of the game! Support ist kein Mord! (support is no murder, we say in germany)
