The United States Navy SEALs (English: United States Navy Sea, Air and Land Teams, English abbreviation: SEAL) are a nickname for the US military's amphibious assault teams. The full name is the U.S. Navy 'SEAL' Team or U.S. Navy Sea, Air and Land Special Warfare Force, commonly referred to as the SEALs. It is a special operations force directly under the United States Navy, with five main missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-terrorism, and special reconnaissance.
