Lithophane Frame

This is a simple lithophane frame that my son designed for Christmas gifts.  He wanted something simple to assemble without the need for glue or screws (However, you “can” add some screws just to add some strength to the assembled pieces. They are definitely not required, but if you do add them they will make the box fit tighter, but also harder to take apart).

This model is ONLY the frame.  You need to purchase the light cable and print each of the 4 picture lithophanes yourself (see below)

Light Cable

You can buy the switched 15ft light cable we used in a 2 pack from Amazon here for about $17 (I’ll try to keep this link up to date in case it changes, if it’s broken, let me know so I can fix it.  Amazon likes to move things from time to time).

We use this cable specifically because he also designed extra licking rings for attaching the light to the box in needed (The original cables only came with 1 ring… 2 are needed for securing the light to the box)

Light

I recommend using a standard 40w equivalent LED bulb.  I would recommend ONLY using LED bulbs. Anything that gets hot is probably a bad idea.  We did add vent holes on the back because we're paranoid.

Lithophane Pictures

You can design and download the Lithophane picture STL (print files) here.  You can use any pictures you like and everything I’m printed has come out great from this site.  Just make sure to set the # of walls to something large (like 10).  You don’t want any infill or it will affect how the light comes through the pane.

Make sure to use the settings below or the lithophane panes will not fit!!!

Height: 102
Width: 102
Depth: 4
Base Height: 4

The other settings can be whatever you want based on the quality and opacity you want for your lithophanes.
