A miter saw makes a lot of mess. On YouTube, I have seen various wooden dust collection boxes that sit behind the fence, which extract a lot of dust.

For my Metabo KGS 216 M, I designed such a dust collection box for printing. There isn't much space for a vacuum cleaner connection, which is why the dust ports look a bit strange.

With the dust collection box, +/-45° horizontally can still be achieved. Cuts of +45° vertically are no longer possible with it, but I don't really need these either.

The original dust flap does not need to be removed and can also be connected to the vacuum cleaner. When sawing, the flap is simply flattened by the box.

The vacuum connections are osVacNeo M32 connectors.

Also required:

  • An approx 4mm thick plate (acrylic glass or wood) to cover the box (printable model available as a step file)
  • An approx 5mm thick strip (65-70mm high) that goes in front of the original fence
  • 3mm wood screws (approx 16mm long) to fasten the cover plate
  • 4 M5x30 countersunk screws and 4 M5 nuts for fastening the strip to the original fence (the box is fastened with 2 screws)
  • some duct tape to firmly insert the dust ports into the box

UPDATE 24.12.2025

There isn't as much dirt behind the machine anymore, but a lot still flies to the left and right. However, for a first optimization step, the dust extraction works :-)
