Description

I couldn’t find a shelf I really liked, so I made one for myself - figured someone else might find it useful too.

💡If you already have a front only shelf printed, you can likely just print the rear brackets from this model to add extra support.

This shelf is designed for the Dell Optiplex Micro 7000, but should also fit other machines with the same dimensions (182 × 36 × 178 mm).

PSA: Let the print cool down properly before removing from the plate, removing too early can lead to warping.

Features

  • The Optiplex front bezel sits flush with the shelf faceplate
  • Through-holes under the shelf let you secure the Optiplex with M4 screws, so it won’t slide out when pressing the power button or using the front USB ports
  • Optional (but recommended) rear brackets to support the Optiplex from the back

Assembly

  • Slide the Optiplex into the front bracket.  The feet cut-outs on the shelf ensures things line up and it sits flush
  • Optionally secure it with 2× M4 screws from underneath it (I used M4 × 10 mm, which are slightly too long - 8 mm would be ideal)
  • Install rear brackets into the rack
  • Mount the front bracket (with the Optiplex installed into it) from the front of the rack - it should slide onto the brackets previously installed

Rack info

I use the Modular 10 server rack (link to rack). The faceplate thickness is 2.6mm to match that rack's design
