A modern, expandable telescoping torch built from concentric cylinders that slide open like a telescope. Designed with friction-fit telescoping sections that hold their position without locks, hardware, or supports.

 

Designed to hold Bambu Lab’s RGBW puck light, this torch can be handheld or mounted on the wall as a sconce using one of two included mounting options.


Description

 

This project reimagines the classic torch using clean geometry, mechanical motion, and modern lighting. The torch is made from two telescoping sections - a handle and a flame housing — each built from concentric cylinders that smoothly extend and collapse. When extended, the torch feels tall and dramatic; when collapsed, it becomes compact and sculptural. The telescoping sections are designed with a snug friction fit, allowing the torch to remain fully extended without slipping. Each section can be easily re-collapsed with gentle pressure. The flame section uses the same friction-fit design and seats securely into the handle, keeping the entire torch stable whether it’s extended, collapsed, or wall-mounted.


The flame section securely holds Bambu Lab’s RGBW puck light, which includes a remote control for adjusting color, brightness, and lighting modes. This allows the torch to act as anything from a warm, ambient flame to a colorful accent light.

 

To make it even more versatile, the design includes two wall-mount options, turning the torch into a wall sconce:
•A no-hole mount designed for 3M Command Strips
•A screw-mounted version for permanent installation


All parts are designed to print without supports and fit on the Bambu Lab A1 Mini.

Assembly & Use

Print all parts (no supports required).
Insert the Bambu RGBW puck light into the flame housing.
The flames section fits snugly into the handle section to form the telescoping torch.
The handle section and flame section use friction-fit tolerances, so no locks or hardware are needed to hold the torch in its extended position.
Use the RGBW Puck Light remote  to set color and brightness.

 

Wall Sconce Option:
Mount the torch using either the Command Strip mount or the screw-mounted bracket.
Hang the torch vertically to create a dramatic wall sconce effect.
