Description

This model is based on Robert Cowan’s excellent Modular Filament Drawer System, which I’ve been using and loving for a while. I decided to create this remix to better suit my own setup and printing constraints, and I’m sharing it in case it helps others in the Bambu ecosystem.

The main change I made was narrowing the width of all components so everything fits comfortably on Bambu X1 and P1/P2 printers without pushing the limits of the build plate. While doing that, I also fixed the way the drawer aligns with the rails, resulting in smoother insertion and more consistent alignment overall.

Printing & Materials

The assembly and usage instructions are exactly the same as the original model, so if you’ve built Robert’s system before, you’ll feel right at home.

The included print profile is set up as follows:

  • Frame & Drawer: ABS
  • Front Panel: PETG
  • Labels: PLA

I personally printed the front panel in PETG because the large, flat surface was prone to warping in ABS on my printer. Since I don’t have a heated chamber, PETG gave me much better results while still being durable and clean-looking.

Optional Rear Support

I’ve also included an optional low-rise rear support, which I designed specifically to fit my first row of drawers under a Husky workbench. If you’re tight on vertical space, this might come in handy—check the pictures to see how I’m using it.

Caveat

The narrower faceplate is causing the first spool to sit half an inch from the drawer front, resulting in only 8 spools per drawer when using 24in PVC pipes. If you still want to fit nine spools, cut the PVCs at 25 inches instead.
