Sick of wasting half the depth of your shelving using existing filament box storage that only accommodates storing filament 1 level deep? These shelves allow you to store 2 (or even more) boxes deep on shelving at least 425mm in depth. Shelves are angled at a little over 20 degrees, so when you remove the front box, the one behind will slide down to take its place (may require a little prodding depending on the material you print the shelves from, and the filament box in question). Fits most filament boxes including all Bambu Lab boxes.
Entirely modular, so you can choose how deep, wide, and tall your filament storage solution is. Adjacent shelves fit together with simple printable clips, which you can glue or friction-fit. The base units include screw holes for 3-4mm wood screws to secure the racking to your shelf if desired. Very filament-efficient: a complete 1 x 4 x 2 rack capable of storing 8 boxes of filament comes in at ~683 grams if printed in ABS - about 85 grams per box stored.
I strongly recommend printing this in ABS, but a profile is provided for PETG printing also. Do not use the ABS profile to print in PETG or other materials; hole clearances are slightly larger in the PETG profile to account for the reduced shrinkage compared to ABS.
Unfortunately, due to the geometry of the upper shelves, this is too large to print on 255mm bed printers - so only H2 series and other large printers can accommodate it.
The system is divided into five parts:
- Bases. You will need one of these for each tower. The same base is used for front and back.
- Front shelves, in ‘middle’ and ‘top’ versions. These have a lip to retain the frontmost box. You will need one middle shelf for each unit of height except the top, for which you will need the ‘Front Top Shelf’.
- Back shelves, in ‘middle’ and ‘top’ versions. These have no lip. You will need one middle shelf for each unit of height except the top, for which you will need the ‘Back Top Shelf’. You will also need one additional back middle shelf to raise the back tower up to the level of the front one - this shelf does not hold filament.
This diagram shows each component colored uniquely to clarify the assembly process:

The example above has 2 x Base, 1 x Front Shelf, 1 x Front Top Shelf, 2 x Back Shelf and 1 x Back Top Shelf.
Once you have printed all the components, simply clip them together with the included clips, and install on your shelf.
