Description
This FPV racing drone frame was designed with a focus on durability, stiffness, and consistent flight performance. It is intended to be printed in PA-CF (carbon fiber–reinforced nylon), which provides significantly higher rigidity and impact resistance compared to standard filaments.
The design prioritizes structural strength in high-stress areas such as the arms and motor mounts, while maintaining a clean and efficient layout. PA-CF helps minimize frame flex under load, contributing to more predictable handling and improved control during aggressive flying.
This frame reflects my preference for practical, robust designs that can withstand repeated use and crashes while remaining reliable in flight.
Chassis Design Intent
The chassis was designed with durability, adaptability, and ease of maintenance as core priorities. High-stress components, such as the arms, are expected to fail first during testing or use, so the chassis was intentionally designed to be modular. Rather than requiring the entire chassis to be reprinted when damage occurs, individual components can be quickly removed and replaced. This hot-swappable approach reduces repair time, material waste, and downtime while allowing rapid iteration and experimentation. By isolating failure-prone parts into replaceable modules, the overall system is more practical, cost-effective, and better suited for real-world use and repeated testing.
This design is not presented as a perfect or final solution. There are many aspects that could be refined or improved, and the current version reflects an iterative step in the overall development process. The modular approach provides a strong foundation for future changes, optimizations, and learning, and feedback from testing or the community can be used to further improve the chassis over time.
