Threaded Insert Melting Aid (Melt-in Threads)
Print Profile(1)

Bill of Materials
Description
This melt-in aid was specially developed for use in the 3D printing sector and enables the precise, vertical, and controlled melting of brass threaded inserts into plastic parts.
The complete model can be entirely 3D printed and assembled by yourself.
✅ Modular & adaptable
The soldering iron holder is designed as a quick-change system. This means that in principle any soldering iron can be adapted, provided a suitable mount is designed.
This version is currently designed for the Weller WEP 70 handle – but other soldering irons are easily possible.
If you use a different soldering iron, please feel free to contact me with the exact handle dimensions – I will then design a suitable mount.
⚙️ Mechanics & Principle of Operation
The melt-in aid is based on:
• a 300 mm linear guide rail (MGN9H) 300mmx9mm

• a return cable (door closer 44mm x 44mm x 16mm)

• two ball bearings with steel cable guidance (U-groove nylon round roller wheel with ball bearing)

These components ensure a clean, straight, and smooth stroke without tilting.
🧰 Additionally Required Hardware
In addition to the 3D-printed parts, the following standard parts are required:
• M3 and M4 threaded inserts
• corresponding cylinder head screws
• corresponding countersunk screws
The exact parts list with length and quantity specifications will also be provided.
💡 Advantages
• precise and reproducible melting-in
• stable guidance without twisting
• fully reprintable
• modular and expandable
• adaptable for many soldering irons
