Customizable Rafter Hook – No Supports (Parametric Rafter Hook)

This is a fully customizable rafter hook designed for maximum flexibility and easy customization. Every critical dimension can be adjusted to fit your exact needs, making this model ideal for a wide range of rafters, beams, and hanging applications. This is not limited to 2x dimensional lumber - but whatever you may need.

 

The model is driven entirely by user-defined parameters, allowing you to quickly resize and adapt the hook without manually editing geometry. Below are reference images that clearly show all adjustable parameters and how they relate to the final shape.

Printing Notes

  • Print orientation shown in images is recommended for strength
  • Use at least 3 wall loops. Recommend higher wall loops and infill for heavier loads. Since the size and intended use varies, it's difficult to recommend specific infill percentage and wall loops. I would suggest using a modifier on the hook area to increase infill / walls for increased strength where the bending force will occur. 
  • Brim ears may be necessary for bed adhesion. 
  • PETG, ABS, or Nylon recommended for higher strength and temperature resistance
