Overview

Is it a 6 or a 7 ? You decide! This 6-7 Rotator Fidget is a "dual-view" optical illusion that uses a clever mechanical base to flip the number 90 degrees with a simple slide. It’s a perfect desk companion for those who love mechanical movement and mind-bending geometry.

Features

  • Dual Perspective: Seamlessly transitions between a "6" and a "7" depending on the rotation.
  • Mechanical Action: Features a sliding cam mechanism that provides a satisfying tactile feel.
  • No AMS Required: Designed specifically to be printed in separate parts so anyone with a single-nozzle printer can achieve the dual-colour look.
  • Snap-Fit Design: All parts are designed to click together, though glue can be used for extra permanence.

Bill of Materials

  • No Hardware Needed: This model is 100% 3D printed.
  • Filament: Approximately 50-60g of PLA (Black for the base, Orange/Bright colour for the number recommended).

Print Settings

  • Layer Height: 0.2mm Standard works great, but 0.16mm Optimal is highly recommended for the number to minimize layer lines on the curves.
  • Plate: Textured PEI plate is recommended for a professional finish on the base parts.
  • Supports: None required!

Assembly

  1. Place the Cam into the centre of the Base.
  2. Insert the Slider into the side slot so it engages with the cam.
  3. Snap the Top Plate onto the base. (Optional: Add a drop of superglue to the corners for a permanent fit).
  4. Slot the 6-7 Number into the top of the cam.
