Description
This design is a multi-column cylindrical carrier and alignment structure composed of two interlocking sections. It is built around a linear array of evenly spaced vertical bores, reinforced by continuous outer shells formed using smooth hulls between the end columns.
The primary (gray) body forms a rigid base with thickened sidewalls and stepped internal geometry. Two concentric outer hull layers provide structural stiffness while material is selectively removed to create precisely aligned cylindrical channels. These channels run vertically through the body and are evenly spaced along the X-axis, making the part suitable for holding, guiding, or protecting a row of cylindrical components such as rods, tubes, cartridges, or inserts.
The secondary (red) section, offset vertically above the base, acts as a cap or upper reinforcement layer. It mirrors the column spacing of the base while introducing additional stepped cut-outs and internal clearances. This layered construction allows for controlled compression, alignment, or staged engagement with the underlying columns, depending on how the two parts are assembled or printed.
Key characteristics:
- Linear array of identical cylindrical bores with consistent spacing
- Smooth, continuous outer geometry created via hulls rather than flat extrusions
- Multiple internal subtraction layers to reduce material while preserving strength
- Designed for parametric adjustment of column count, diameter, height, and wall thickness
- Suitable for 3D printing as a single assembly or as stacked components
