With every holiday season, it's time for mahjong again!

Now that there are more relatives and children back home, I wanted to use this competition to create a mahjong set I love to take back to play or give as a gift!

Naturally, I thought Super Mario would be very suitable to be transformed into a mahjong style that both adults and children would love, although it might clash

I still want to share ideas that I find interesting for everyone to experience and enjoy!

For better printing results, a better playing experience, and practicality

I spent more time and effort modifying multiple versions of the design and printing parameters, and finally completed a more satisfactory version, I hope you like this work too

 

First, I hope this mahjong set must allow for tactile identification of tiles, as feeling the tiles is one of the joys of mahjong

Therefore, I made a distinct concave design on each tile. Even without looking, you can still feel the tiles and win after getting familiar with them

Then, the patterns on the front of the tiles were changed to Super Mario content, but you can still intuitively recognize the original attributes of the tiles

The back features the classic question mark pattern from Super Mario, symbolizing his attempts at unknown outcomes

This mahjong set includes a total of 136 tiles, two dice, and several scoring tokens. It also comes with a dedicated storage box kept inside the larger case

(A1 mini print size available)

Each mahjong tile measures 29x39x20mm

After the update, the mahjong tiles are available in 136-tile and 144-tile sets

Dice:

The dice have been re-modeled and designed to better fit the Super Mario theme. They come in red and green color schemes, one of each

Reference for the corresponding positions of each face of the dice

Tokens:

Respectively: 1 point, 2 points, 5 points, 10 points

White = 1 point; Green = 2 points; Red = 5 points; Yellow = 10 points

There are a total of 50 tokens, 20 for 1 point, and 10 each for the rest

Both the dice and tokens are designed with boxes for storage

Along with the 136 mahjong tiles, they are stored in a large case. The large case is designed with a handle for easy carrying of the entire set

Tile Racks:

4 sets of foldable tile racks that can be stored in the case, only suitable for the 144-tile case

The tile rack connections are secured by threading filament of the same color through them

For a better experience and durability, the case requires:

Magnets (10*2) x6

Socket Head Screws (M6*35) x2

Of course, you can also print 3D printed long pins; the case can still close without magnets

To achieve a good feel, infill densities from 15-60% were tested in multi-color printing. Balancing feel and cost,

an infill density of 30% is, in my opinion, the best choice. Of course, higher densities also provide a sense of weight

Filament selection:

Most importantly: for white filament, please choose Bambu PLA Lite texture. After surface ironing, it has a fine and smooth feel!

This mahjong set can be printed in single color or multi-color with AMS, using different print profiles. Please check carefully before downloading and printing

Single-color requires super glue for adhesion and involves more assembly, multi-color printing is recommended. Multi-color requires no assembly or supports; just collect and play

If you feel the printing time is too long, you can print at 125% speed; my tests show no issues with the results

The quantity and positions of 136 tiles are already arranged (including for A1 mini); just download and start printing
