Description

Version 3 is out!! It's new and improved featureing a SnapLock hinge!

Version 3 Link: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2612099-v3-harbor-freight-pick-box-print-in-place-snaplock#profileId-2882681

This is version 2 of my original Harbor Freight Pick Box. This version is improved by not needing any hardware and instead utilizing print in place hinges! The benefit of this is increased hinge strength where version 1 had a change of breaking at the hinge and the other benefit is that it requires no hardware to assemble. I had to redesign the entire box to accommodate the print in place hinges which is why I am uploading a whole new model instead of just updating my old print profile.

This model was printed with Bambu Lab PLA Basic

**I will be testing this print file with PETG in the future for its added strength properties but from my testing, PLA Basic is more than strong enough for this use case.**

The hinge rotates about a piece filament. That is the only other material you need to assemble this box

Assembly:

  1. Use a piece of filament for the hinge of the locking latch. If experiencing difficulty pushing filament all the way through try using pliers to push the filament in little by little or alternatively slide filament in from both ends of the latch and have them meet in the middle.

Updates

  • Added different latches to the print profile so you can choose your latch tension
  • Added a new print profile to test different hinge tolerances that work best for you
