Description
The 200mm Spire: Ultimate Z-Axis & Retraction Torture Test
Push your printer to its vertical limits! This model is a single, ultra-thin pillar that rises a full 200mm into the air. It is a brutal test of stability, layer cooling, and retraction tuning designed to expose issues that shorter prints hide.
Why 200mm Matters
- Z-Wobble Amplifier: At this height, even microscopic vibrations or misalignments in your lead screws will be magnified, showing up as banding near the top.
- Bed Adhesion Stress: As the nozzle moves at the top (200mm up), it creates a "lever arm" effect. If your bed adhesion isn't perfect, the leverage will knock the print loose before it finishes.
- Retraction Endurance: Hundreds of rapid retractions in a row will test if your extruder gears grind filament or if heat creep causes jams over long vertical travels.
Print Settings
- Height: 200mm
- Layer Height: 0.20mm or 0.16mm
- Infill: 100% (Solid)
- Supports: None
Troubleshooting Your Results
- Knocked Over? Your nozzle might be scraping the top surface (over-extrusion) or your bed adhesion is weak. Clean your plate well.
- Wobbly Lines at the Top? Check your printer frame rigidity and belt tension. The printer may be shaking as the bed moves.
- Stringing? If stringing gets worse as it gets higher, you may be suffering from heat creep (heat traveling up the filament).
Can your printer make it to the 200mm finish line? Post your results!
