Description

This is a PLA top-surface ironing calibration model designed to help dial in the best ironing speed and flow combination for smooth, consistent top layers.

The model is laid out as a grid of individual squares, each labelled with its Ironing Speed – Ironing Flow values, making it easy to visually compare results and identify the optimal settings for your printer and filament.

Notes

  • Results is vary depending on printer, nozzle size, filament type, cooling, flow ratio, and filament moisture.
  • Designed primarily for PLA, but can be used for any type
  • Text is intentionally shallow to reveal over- or under-ironing
    • You can identify a small surface ironing quality
    • You can identify small ireas ironing

What this test helps with

  • Eliminating rough or matte top surfaces
  • Reducing over-ironing artefacts and ridges
  • Finding the best balance between surface quality and print time
  • Comparing multiple ironing settings in a single print
