Description

G-Scale Gondola Car (3D Printable)

This is a ~G-scale gondola car designed for 3D printing. The model is scaled at 1 foot = 1 centimeter (1:30.48), with the overall length slightly compressed to accommodate the build volume of the Bambu H2 printer. The proportions otherwise remain true to scale.

  • Length: 355 mm

  • Height: 58 mm

Hardware Required

You will need the following hardware to assemble the model:

Screws

  • M3 x 8 mm (8 total)
    • 4 for the trucks (2 per truck)
    • 4 for the couplers (2 per end)
  • M3 x 25 mm (2 total)
    • 1 for each drawbar 
  • M3 x ~16 mm (2 total)
    • 1 for the bolster screw

Nuts

  • M3 nylock nut (4)
    • Used on the bolster and draw bar
  • M3 nut (8)
    • Used on the trucks and couplers

Bearings

  • 6 × 10 × 3 mm bearings
    • 4 per truck
    • 8 total

Super Glue

  • Wheels
    • Glue the wheels to the axels 
  • Trucks
    • Gule the bolster to the top of the truck assemblies

Printing Notes

  • The file includes six different car numbers designs
    • You only need to print one body.
    • Print the remaining plates for each car. 
  • I typically print the car body on the Bambu H2S printer and the trucks/draw bars on the Bambu P2S printer
