Description
Medusa is a 3D‑printed table lamp inspired by the soft, organic shape and bioluminescent glow of a jellyfish. The ribbed shade, combined with a removable color diffuser, creates a warm and atmospheric light that mimics the natural luminescence of a medusa drifting in the dark.
Designed as a compact decorative table lamp, Medusa is perfect for desks, bedside tables, living rooms, cafés, or mood lighting.
✨ Design Concept
The lamp is composed of four main parts:
- A tripod base
- A separate lamp holder that screws into the tripod base
- A ribbed lampshade inspired by jellyfish anatomy
- A color diffuser insert that modifies the light tone and enhances the glowing effect
By combining translucent or opaque filaments with different diffuser colors, you can easily customize the mood and style of the lamp.

- Light source: LED bulbs only (recommended)
⚠️ Do not use incandescent or halogen bulbs — heat may deform the printed parts.

🧵 Printing Recommendations
Suggested materials:
- PLA (opaque or translucent)
- PETG (opaque or translucent)
Tips:
- Translucent or light‑colored filaments enhance the glowing effect
- Print the diffuser in colored translucent filament for best bioluminescent look
⚠️ Important fit note:
Please do not modify scale, wall thickness, tolerances, or other print parameters for the lampshade and diffuser. Changing these settings may affect the bayonet fit and I cannot guarantee compatibility with the base if parameters are altered.
Layer height, wall thickness and infill can be adjusted only for the base parts, depending on the desired strength and surface quality.
🛠️ Assembly
Assembly is simple and tool‑free:
- Screw the lamp holder (E14,E27 or Lamp Kit 001) into the tripod base
- Place the LED bulb
- Mount the lampshade using the bayonet twist‑lock system (gently, as the part is thin to allow better light transmission)
- Insert the color diffuser using the bayonet twist‑lock system (handle gently, the reduced thickness improves light diffusion)
🌈 Customization
- Change filament colors for different lighting moods
- Swap diffusers to create warm, cold, or colored light effects
- Paint or finish the base for a unique style
