Samsung SmartTag 2 Compact Wallet Integration

I disassembled a Samsung SmartTag 2 and rearranged its internal parts so it fits perfectly inside my Ridge-style wallet. This design replaces the wallet’s metal plate, turning it into a 3 mm thick SmartTag module that remains fully functional.

All antennas and features are preserved — UWB, Bluetooth, NFC, the loudspeaker, and the button all work exactly like in the original device.

You can use one, two, or three batteries in this design, but three are recommended for the best runtime and reliability.

Battery setup options and rough runtime:

  • 3 × CR2016
  • Approx. total capacity similar to one CR2032
  • Roughly 500 days in normal mode, up to about 700 days in power saving mode
  • 3 × CR2025
  • Approx. 2.1 × the capacity of a single CR2032
  • Roughly 1050 days in normal mode, up to about 1470 days in power saving mode
  • 3 × CR2032
  • Approx. 3 × the capacity of a single CR2032
  • Roughly 1500 days in normal mode, up to about 2100 days in power saving mode

(These are theoretical estimates based on Samsung’s claim of about 500 days in normal mode and up to 700 days in power saving mode with one CR2032, scaled by battery capacity. Real-world runtime will be lower.)

The Versions with 2025/2032 battery are a little bit thicker.

Parts required:

  • 0.12 mm copper wire (one 10 cm and one 3 cm piece)
  • 7 × M2 heat-set inserts (3 mm height)
  • 3 × CR2016 or 3 × CR2025 or 3 × CR2032 batteries (you can also run it with only 1 or 2 cells)
  • Disassembled components from a Samsung SmartTag 2

This project integrates a fully functional SmartTag 2 directly into your wallet — compact, discreet, and still with UWB, BLE, NFC, sound, and button support.

If you need links to the specific wallet and parts, you have to send me a message because I can't share them here.
