Description
I didn’t have a support handle for my DeWalt XRP drill, so I decided to design one in Fusion 360.
This handle also fits other drills, provided that the inner diameter of 55 mm matches that of your device.
This model is fully finished and designed to be strong, practical, and safe.
The handle has an inner diameter of 55 mm to fit the drill. A clamping groove allows the hole to close, holding the handle firmly in place. Clamping is done with an M6 threaded rod equipped with a small handle, allowing the collar to be opened or closed.
For installation, simply insert the handle with the rod unscrewed, then screw to securely lock the assembly.
The threaded rod is fixed in an M6 insert (outer diameter 8 mm, height 6 mm). I added a drop of strong Loctite glue before definitively tightening the small handle to prevent it from unscrewing from the rod during use.
To ensure good resistance, I planned for printing with non-PLA materials: PETG, ASA, or any other robust material is recommended. The handle is designed to support the drill and not to be forced, but it is important to avoid overly fragile materials to prevent any risk of breakage during use.
Regarding safety, the infill is optimized:
25% grid pattern from 0 to 220.5 mm
100% beyond, to reinforce the drill holding area.
Three Fusion 360 dimensioning photos are provided to check compatibility with your own drill before printing.
The first plate contains the support handle, the second the small handle for the threaded rod.
I recommend keeping the layer settings, infill, and variable layer heights for good quality. However, feel free to use your own settings if you use a different filament or get better results with your settings. A printer and filament are never identical from one user to another.
Happy printing everyone!
