Silica dry shell for SUNLU E2
Print Profile(1)

Description
This tray is designed for drying and regenerating silica beads and can be used either in a Sunlu E2 filament dryer or directly on the heated bed of a 3D printer.
The mesh bottom is not included in the STL file but is intentionally generated in the slicer. The tray is printed without top and bottom layers, using infill only. This creates an open, temperature-stable structure with excellent airflow and no heat buildup. Compared to modeled grids, this approach is more flexible and better suited for high-temperature use.
PA12-CF is recommended due to its high dimensional stability and suitability for continuous operation at elevated temperatures; however, other heat-resistant materials may also be used as long as their temperature limits are respected. The tray is ideal for regenerating silica beads used in filament storage, AMS systems, and similar applications.
Note: As a general guideline, allow approximately 90 minutes of drying time per 1 cm of bead layer thickness. Thinner layers will dry faster.
Recommended maximum temperatures and generous drying time guidelines by material:
- PA12-CF / PA6-CF: up to 110 °C · approx. 4–8 hours
- PA12 (non-CF): up to 100 °C · approx. 5–9 hours
- ASA: up to 90–95 °C · approx. 6–10 hours
- ABS: up to 90 °C · approx. 6–10 hours
- PETG / PETG-HF: up to 70–80 °C · approx. 10–16 hours
