Description

This project was created to replace a broken metal clip on my work lanyard with a lightweight, compact, and fully 3D-printable solution.

The set includes two parts:

  • Openable D-Ring – works similarly to a keyring but with a D shape for better load distribution and a clean look. Designed for 15 mm wide lanyards, and easily scalable for larger sizes.
  • Click Connector – made of two snap-fit parts that lock together with a solid click. Once closed, it holds extremely well under tension and only opens by pressing the sides, preventing accidental release.

The result is a small but very strong modular system, originally designed for work badges and lanyards, but perfect for many other uses.

The main strength of this design is the snap-fit mechanism: secure when pulled, easy to use when needed, and comfortable for everyday use.

Recommended material: PETG for better durability and flexibility compared to PLA.

In the photos I’m using a badge holder model from MakerWorld 👉 You can find it here
